I remember back in high school, I had the opportunity to go into the hospital setting to make rounds on different floors to see what our “calling” was. I always counted the days until I was able to go onto my Mother Baby round, I always left feeling fulfilled. However, I wanted to take a path that was even more connected to Mothers, more than just being their delivery nurse. I wished to support her from beginning to end of Mom’s pregnancy and birth, without having to chart records or juggle multiple patients. Being a Birth Doula means giving mom the support she deserves, while allowing myself to have a career I feel fulfilled and empowered through.
